Had a great day yesterday...I missed my dad a lot but for the first time I addressed my stepdad as 'Dad' in his card and my mom told me privately later that it meant more to him than she could explain to me (he has no relationship with his own adult children, and I won't spill his business here but I will say he's a wonderful person and if someone wouldn't want to know him then that is because of their own weird issues).
He's been one of my dads for 30 years this year. He taught me how to ride my first bike (I thanked him again for that in the card) and it finally just dawned on me that my dad, wherever he is, wouldn't mind me doing that. It's not an insult to him to acknowledge André (my dad passed in 2009, for anyone newer) and I think maybe he'd even want me to. Also, they were good friends, and with my brother's dad, too. They'd all come for every holiday and even go to movies together sometimes just randomly. It was so nice. Of course André is a dad to me, of course he is. Sometimes you just wake up one day and it's all so clear.
And my mom had a fabulous birthday :) she was (is) so happy and that makes me so happy. Amazon (Prime!!) is slow as hell up here for some reason so we didn't have either of their gifts, but I did pick up flowers for her and wine for him and she's a mom so of course she insisted the only thing she wanted was to see us all of us (which she did) so to her, everything was perfect. We also went early and Scott installed a new security light for them because they live in the Vanier of the countryside -_- and I hope it helps keep the riff riff away. (I wish we could just pick their property up and move it some place nicer... *sigh*)
And we watched the 'Treat Yoself' episode of Parks & Rec and then oops I somehow ended up with two new polishes. :>
Pink = You Drive Me Coconuts
Teal (?) = Too Yacht to Handle (*lmao*...)
Hope you're having a great day ♥
