(Birthday festivities under the cut!)
It started off with my mom and André surprising me for an afternoon visit :) and they didn't come empty handed!
Birthday balloon!! They probably thought I was 5 when she bought it *LOL* (I love it!)
And six panels of beautiful gold organza for the canopy. ^-^
Salted caramel double layer chocolate cake. MMM! Thank you, Mumsy and Dré! You guys are the best. I had it at 11:30 when I was finally ready for dessert and made my birthday wish. :)
And then Scott came home and surprised me with reservations at my favourite (family owned and operated!) Italian restaurant. ^-^
My outfit! :)
*romantic jazz playing in the background*
And the food was exquisite. Seriously rave-worthy, and I'm gonna!! We ordered a bottle of rosé and the bruschetta appetizer (the lovely waitress complimented my pronunciation...♥) and it was so fresh and absolutely delicious. Look at that freshly grated cheese. Mmm.
Sorry for the no flash! It would look a lot better with the flash but there was still one other table on this side of the restaurant at this point and I didn't want to be annoying with the flash.
He chose the 14oz striploin steak and I got the 6oz filet mignon:
I got it medium rare and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. So many places overdo it but they nailed it 100% (he got rare and it was perfect, too). Soup and salad came with the meals so we got a cream of leek soup and caesar salad and shared both and they were on point, too (you can tell their soup of the day is actually soup of the day. So fresh).
Our server was an absolute doll and took great care of us, too. You really get that family vibe...they make YOU feel like family. I was much, much too full for dessert afterwards but I know Scott has a sweet tooth so when I went to touch up my lipstick I told the server to please go ahead and bring him that sticky, hot toffee Italian dessert you mentioned...and when I came back LOOK what she'd done ^-^
and she presented it to me, obviously! ^-^ Scott said the moment I walked away she snuck up to him and asked him for my name and then ran back to the kitchen all covertly. (She knew it was my birthday because when she greeted us she asked if we were celebrating something special and after an awkward pause I said, "It's my birthday but shh don't tell anyone" with a big smile 'cause I just didn't want a big song and dance or anything) and you know what--I found room to eat half of it. ;)
Isn't that so nice?! What a sweet thing. ^-^ And the owner thanked us on the way out and she wished me a happy birthday, too. :) Such a lovely place and people.
And I went to bed under the 'starry sky' thanks to my love ♥ It was a perfect birthday. :)
Thank you SO much to two of my dearest friends here for the surprise bday gifts ^-^ I was/am really touched by your thoughtfulness and appreciate it SO much :) *big big hugs* You know who you are ♥
