This one is tough because Livejournal isn't really set up this way. 'Most popular' feels more like an Instagram thing, and I don't really have any way to gauge which of my entries garnered the most attention because sometimes you're just chatting with someone in the comments about nothing, so just because there are sixty comments doesn't necessarily make it more popular.

So I'm choosing this entry, from 2012, wherein I have tried (and quit) Facebook for the first time. My opinion of Facebook remains unchanged, although maybe I do dislike it even more now. But it hasn't changed for the better, that's for sure!

I tried Facebook again three months ago and quit it all over again. People seemed even stupider and more vapid than the first time around with the oversharing and the incessant whining. I just don't know how people aren't more embarrassed. They clearly have no self respect and enjoy playing the very-public victim. Well, ain't nobody got time for that. I'm much better off without it, and my point has once again been proven that social media actually hurts (not helps) your social life. It makes people so lazy, like they feel "off the hook" from putting forth any effort because they just "liked" one of your photos. Gee, thanks, but do you want to meet up or not? Are we still friends, or not? I'm not looking for lip service relationships, I'm the real deal. All in or nothing. Maybe that's too intense for the common sheep person, though.

All I know is Livejournal will always be my Home on the web.

I'm glad you have a home, here! :-)

... and I feel the same way about friendship. We 'met' on the Internet, but you are in every sense, a real-life friend... If ever there was somebody on my list who I had no intention of ever meeting, then that's a sign that they shouldn't be there. I know it won't be possible to meet everyone, but that's still the goal!

Then again, I've been accused of being too 'intense' before, too... So it seems that Livejournal is just my kind of place - and that you are my kind of person! <3

Me too :) And I agree so much--our friendship is in no way less valid simply because it began online. Look how far apart we live, how could it start any other way? And that, that's the beauty :)

Oh "too intense"--kiss my ass... That's just the way some people say "you're too authentic for me, too real. I can't handle that right now for whatever reason." That's honestly how I see that, and it's not negative toward any side of it, but just not a good fit, y'know?

A lot of people (a lot...) think my guy is an 'asshole' and I'm a 'royal bitch', but that's because the people who think that about us are the types of people who manipulate and bully and shove people around to get their own way. They don't like it when people stand up for themselves and call them on their shit, and that's just what you get with us. And I don't think that's negative, either :) We just don't have time to be anyone's doormat. Simple as that.

You are definitely my (our) kind of people, the Tinman and I agreed on that right away :)

Yeah; I don't know any other way than to wear my heart on my sleeve. I form attachments quickly, and I say what I think - although I do try to be diplomatic, at the same time...

I guess some people don't like it that if they ask an honest question, I'll give them an honest answer. They're used to people telling them what they WANT to hear, instead of what I see as the truth.

No, you've got to follow your own path - and if people are not along for the ride with you, then they're in the way... It's just efficient, to make the most out of life that you can! :-)

Let the Tinman know that I feel the same way, despite us not having met, yet... If he's the guy that you chose, then he must have something special about him. :-)

I'll take the truth, even when it stings!
Nope--a LOT of people can't handle the truth, but that's exactly what I love about you. We all want support from our friends, but I'm not looking to be surrounded by "yes men". Friends have the privilege of telling you what they REALLY think, and are in a unique position to tell you when you're being stupid/unreasonable. That's what I need, lol!

It's not often that you are either stupid, or unreasonable... but, if I see it, I will let you know (sensitively, of course! lol).

Thank you :)

The Stones "you might not get what ya want, but ya get what ya need" is playing in my head :>

I was a very early, and enthusiastic user of Facebook, but in the beginning, it was really fun in the way that like OKCupid (particularly when it was still Spark Match) used to be really fun (which makes sense, since it was pretty much meant to be a dating site) - you got to create this whole not really real persona and just kind of play with how people responded to different things.

And then they expanded it outside of the like three colleges that had it originally, and it started to change, and then they expanded it outside of college, and all of my family got on it...

and now it's just kind of a way to check in with people without feeling like you're bugging them. I rarely post anything anymore...

I can see how it was cool in the beginning :) but I just know too much about the security breaches and general bullshit spying that goes along with it now...I just couldn't stick it out after the last big scandal thingy.

I'm just waiting until blockchain technology takes over everything, and every sort of transaction we've ever had with anyone is recorded, (and we turn the entire continent of Africa into a server farm to store all of this data,) and used as part of our unique signature to identify us...

I've always known that nothing I put anywhere on the internet is ever really safe, so none of the scandals really phase me... But still, I'm not really fond of the fact that we're heading more and more towards a world where there is no such thing as privacy.

It's the complacency of the common person in regards to their privacy that really bothers me. They are just so quick to throw it away... I have friends who don't think they're "interesting enough" to be spied on, but that's not how it works...

I lovingly refer to it as anti-social media. Facebook, Insta. Used to love Instagram back in the day but I don't know. i feel like Im becomng a bit of a hermit.
